Golf

Hitting golf balls long distance into koala habitat and close to osprey nest with numerous golf balls has been evidenced in bushland, in spite of several ‘no golf’ signs erected nearby.

On 12/11/2014 approximately 200 golf balls were hit across the sports field, damaging council infrastructure.

Council has been alerted about illegal golfing in the Black Rocks sports field many times but the golfers know it will take the rangers some time, if and when they arrive, by which time they will have had their golf practice. They brazenly continue even when being photographed.

The danger to koalas, ospreys and other wildlife is not only the stress of having a golf ball whizz by them at torpedo speeds in their habitat but of actually being hit by one.
